Mark Pfoff has been on the Lewis-Palmer School board since December of 2007. He has been re-elected three times; most recently in November of 2015. He has been the Treasurer, Vice President, and is currently serving his second term as President.
When Mark first arrived on the board the school district was in debt and spending over a million dollars more a year than it was funded. Mark and the rest of the board were committed to fixing this situation. A strategic plan was put in place to balance the budget, pay off the debt, and restore reserves. Within a year the budget was balanced and has been ever since! Even during the recession and reduced state funding, the debt was paid off in August of 2014. We also restored our reserves to their highest level since 2006. Lewis-Palmer School District now enjoys the advantage of having no operational debt, many years of balanced budgets, and strategic reserves. In 2015, our financials received national recognition and we have one of the highest bond ratings possible. During Mark’s tenure on the board he spearheaded efforts to return the district to financial success.
As a long time conservative, he has shown school districts can be both financially and educationally successful. Lewis-Palmer school district 38 is one of the highest rated school districts in the state of Colorado. With Great teachers, great administrators, a dedicated school board, and a supportive community many things are possible.
